HSE Team Leader
To lead and oversee HSE activities at Morouj by promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of the HSE Management System and safety programs in alignment with Morouj’s HSE objectives, applicable requirements, and operational standards, with a focus on minimizing incidents, injuries, and environmental risks.
Duties and responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of HSE programs and initiatives in alignment with Morouj’s Health, Safety, and Environmental objectives.
- Enforce safe working practices and ensure effective measures are implemented to minimize workplace incidents, injuries, and lost-time incidents.
- Ensure employees and workers comply with applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental laws, regulations, standards, and Morouj requirements.
- Conduct regular HSE inspections and facility audits to identify existing and potential hazards, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and follow up on their timely implementation.
- Provide HSE awareness, training, and guidance to employees on HSE systems, procedures, safe working practices, and applicable requirements.
- Develop and maintain emergency and crisis response plans, ensure employees are adequately trained, and coordinate emergency drills and scenario-based exercises.
- Monitor, analyze, and report HSE statistics and performance indicators to identify trends, assess risks, and support appropriate preventive and corrective actions.
- Ensure firefighting equipment and emergency response tools are properly maintained, inspected, and readily available across company facilities.
- Coordinate with relevant regulatory and enforcement authorities, including Civil Defense and Environmental Authorities, and follow up on workplace inspections, recommendations, and required corrective actions.
- Monitor the implementation of HSE plans, programs, recommendations, and corrective actions, ensuring timely completion and effective follow-up.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in HSE performance and recommend appropriate measures to strengthen workplace safety and environmental compliance.
- Prepare and submit periodic HSE reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators, incidents, risks, findings, and required actions.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, FMCG, or similar environment.
- At least one recognized ISO Lead Auditor certification.
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, Sudanese labor laws, environmental requirements, and firefighting systems.
- Practical experience in HSE management systems, audits, risk assessment, emergency preparedness, and incident prevention.
- Strong planning, organizing, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
