Chief Accountant

Job location: Khartoum North (Bahri) & Port Sudan

Job type: Fulltime

Role Overview

As Chief Accountant, you'll ensure financial integrity and drive fiscal excellence across operations in cultivation, processing, packaging, and export. You'll report to the CFO/CEO and play a key role in strategic decision-making and process improvements.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance; CPA/ACCA/CIMA is a plus.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory roles preferably in manufacturing, agribusiness, or FMCG sectors.
  • Deep knowledge of IFRS, Sudanese tax laws, and best accounting practices.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP accounting modules (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic; proficiency in international financial reporting standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in adherence to IFRS and Sudanese GAAP.
  • Oversee audit processes and liaise with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead planning for annual budgets and perform variance analysis.
  • Develop rolling forecasts to support operational decision-making in agriculture, processing, and export logistics.

Taxation & Regulatory Affairs

  • Ensure compliance with all Sudanese tax obligations (corporate tax, VAT, duties).
  • Prepare tax returns and manage relationships with tax authorities.

Internal Controls & Risk Management

  • Design, implement, and monitor robust internal control systems across financial and operational processes.
  • Proactively identify and manage financial risks.

Cost & Inventory Accounting

    • Oversee accurate cost recording across procurement, production, packaging, and logistics functions.
    • Maintain stringent inventory accounting controls.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions—including banking, forex, and trade finance.
  • Monitor and optimize payment schedules, receipts, and liabilities.

ERP & Systems Oversight

  • Lead implementation and maintenance of accounting modules within ERP systems.
  • Ensure integration with SCM, procurement, production, and sales modules.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage a team of accountants and finance professionals, drive performance and continuous development.
  • Standardize accounting procedures and promote best practices across the finance function.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Provide timely financial insights to senior leadership.
  • Support operational teams by offering financial guidance to enhance profitability and efficiency.
